Goodreads Synopsis:
What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once? Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
My Review:
To All The Boys I've Loved Before Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
P.S. I Still Love You Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2
Always and Forever, Lara Jean Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I watched the Netflix movie for To All The Boys I've Loved Before and FELL IN LOVE! I couldn't get enough and I wish for them to continue the series. So of course since the movie ended too fast for my poor unfortunate soul I immediately went on Amazon and ordered all THREE books and chose the one-day shipping. I needed the books! I needed more of the characters, of the story, and of course the cuteness!
Naturally, I binged all three books. I couldn't stop reading and be talking about it. Oh, my poor family had to endure every second of it, I talked their ears off. They probably just zoned me out after the first couple times...
Shocking surprise but I actually liked the movie more than the book. The movie had one cute scene after the other and I loved the movie ending more than the book. But there are so many aspects that I loved in the book and wished for them to be included in the movie.
In P.S. I Still Love You I found the ending was a bit rushed. I learned later that this story had originally been a duology. I will be forever grateful that Jenny Han decided to write a third book. I also got frustrated with some characters, their actions and lack thereof irritated me.
I have no quarrels with anything major in these books. Jenny Han executed everything beautifully. Her writing was so simple and so easy to follow along. She wrote so many memorable adventures and funny and lovely moments that I will cherish forever. And let's not forget the food descriptions! I was drooling. I craved each and every baked good Lara Jean made. I even channeled my inner Lara Jean and made chocolate chip cookies afterward. I wished I could have joined Kitty and Peter to be Lara Jean's taste testers.
There were so many cute scenes in the books and I just couldn't hold back my smiles! These books took my emotions on a rollercoaster. At all times I was either smiling, laughing or crying! Near the end, it hit me that I wouldn't be following these characters any longer. I wouldn't be able to see them continuing to grow. The character development was spectacular. Each character grew and strengthened to become their best possible self. I still don't want to say goodbye, but of course, they will forever be in my heart.
To All The Boys I've Loved Before trilogy was beautifully written, relatable, interesting and truly captivating. I fell in love, I had my heart broken and I felt my heart regrow all in the span of three books. This was my first YA contemporary and it did not disappoint, I highly recommend.
