My Review:

* Thank you Penguin Random House for sending me a copy of Champion: The Graphic Novel for an honest review *

Legend: The Graphic Novel Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Prodigy: The Graphic Novel Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

Champion: The Graphic Novel Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've been wanting to re-read this series for the longest time and I finally found a quick and easy way! These graphic novels are spectacular. It was such an emotional rush going back into this series especially after going through with it before.

Here's a little backstory:

I had purchased the box set and started reading them immediately! I read Legend and instantly fell in love! Prodigy broke my heart. Prodigy was the first book I ever cried in. I spent 30 minutes on my bedroom floor crying my eyes out in the middle of the night. After that, I was so terrified of what would happen that I didn't read Champion. I actually had my mind set to never read Champion, I couldn't take any more pain! But one day I made a spectacular friend that encouraged me to read the final book. So, I gave into my fears and read Champion. The Legend series is one of my favourite series and had started my love for Marie Lu.

Now back to this review...

It was so nice to dive back into this word in a different format. I read them all in one night as they are pretty short, only 160 pages each. The storyline stayed true to the novels but did have some scene position changes and had some scenes completley removed. Since each book was 160 pages some scenes were shortened, for example, the fight scenes were over pretty quickly. The fast pacing was expected, it was everything how I would have imagined the scenes and storyline would be if it were adapted into a movie.

In Legend and Prodigy: The Graphic Novel, there wasn't much transition or breaks between the scenes, but I found the breaks to be better in Champion. As I said above when I read Prodigy, in summary, I was a mess! But when I read the graphic novel I only felt my heart ache a little. Champion is another story and while reading the graphic novel I had tears that flood my eyes.

Also, I need to express how wonderful these illustrations are! They are spectacular! The characters look even better than what I had imagined in my head but also so similar! If you haven't seen them go find the graphic novel and take a look. Kaari did such an amazing job!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Legend: The Graphic Novel series. Though I would recommend reading the novels before reading the graphic novel format. You would get a deeper connection with the characters when reading the novel that would still carry through with the graphic novel.
