Goodreads Synopsis:
Ever the Divided. Ever the Feared. Ever the Brave. After saving King Aodren with her newfound Channeler powers, Britta only wants to live a peaceful life in her childhood home. Unfortunately, saving the King has created a tether between them she cannot sever, no matter how much she'd like to, and now he's insisting on making her a noble lady. And there are those who want to use Britta’s power for evil designs. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life—as well as her country—may be lost. The stakes are higher than ever in the sequel to Ever the Hunted, as Britta struggles to protect her kingdom and her heart.
My Review:
This book just kept getting better and better. There's constantly something happening with the characters and there was never a dull moment!
In Ever the Hunted we only got Britta's perspective but in Ever the Brave we get an additional two, Cohen and King Aodren. The additional perspective allowed us to see more of the characters development. The first POV was of Cohen and I loved that. We already know how Britta feels about him so it was perfect to jump right into his perspective and seeing his thoughts and feelings towards Britta. Since there was a love triangle, having the three POV's let us have a well-rounded view of the love-triangle. Love triangles is a classic YA trope and one of my favourites when its done right. Also, since the whole time my heart-strings were being pulled, I can safely say that this love triangle was done right!
My only main issue was with the villains. We didn't get much information on them, so I never had that hate towards them. I would have liked to get a better understanding of their reasons for their actions.
Erin Summerhill did an amazing job writing this story. I can say I was so entrained with the events that happened throughout the book, between the characters and the plot itself. I loved the medieval feel of the story and it's rich, detailed world. The kingdoms she built were always vivid in my mind. All I wanted was a swift read that I would love, and I'm thrilled that Ever the Brave was precisely that.
Not wanting to say too much but I loved how the novel ended, and I'm anxious for what comes next in the series!
