Goodreads Synopsis:

Jane has lived an ordinary life, raised by her aunt Magnolia—an adjunct professor and deep sea photographer. Jane counted on Magnolia to make the world feel expansive and to turn life into an adventure. But Aunt Magnolia was lost a few months ago in Antarctica on one of her expeditions. Now, with no direction, a year out of high school, and obsessed with making umbrellas that look like her own dreams (but mostly just mourning her aunt), she is easily swept away by Kiran Thrash—a glamorous, capricious acquaintance who shows up and asks Jane to accompany her to a gala at her family's island mansion called Tu Reviens. Jane remembers her aunt telling her: "If anyone ever invites to you to Tu Reviens, promise me that you'll go." With nothing but a trunkful of umbrella parts to her name, Jane ventures out to the Thrash estate. Then her story takes a turn, or rather, five turns. What Jane doesn't know is that Tu Reviens will offer her choices that can ultimately determine the course of her untethered life. But at Tu Reviens, every choice comes with a reward, or a price.

My Review:

I got this ARC from a book signing (if you asked a question you got to pick an ARC). I only had eyes for Jane, Unlimited. I was so excited that I got to read it early! I loved Kristin's Graceling series and was so excited to hear that after five years Kristin was releasing another book. I had such high hopes, but as you can see from my rating I was disappointed. I wanted to stop reading, I just wanted it to end, but I pushed on hoping maybe it will get better... it didn't.

This book is a choose-your-own-adventure and has five different endings. It shows what happens when Jane chooses a specific path (five different paths). None of the paths end properly. It left me hanging and thinking "That's it? Wheres the rest?" and I was just confused throughout the whole book. When the book was transitioning to the second path I thought some pages were missing. There's no ending, again, I was so confused. It leaves you hanging in the worst possible way. It became very repetitive, and boring.

I found most characters to be underdeveloped and VERY dramatic. I did not like Jane's character at all. I found her to be annoying, and boring most of the time. I don't have a strong connection with any of the characters. I can barely remember their names! To me there wasn't any clarity in this book. Jane was confused so, as the reader, I was confused and puzzled too.

This book was just not for me.
