Goodreads Synopsis:

There was once a time when darkness shrouded the world, and the darkness had a queen. Adelina Amouteru is done suffering. She’s turned her back on those who have betrayed her and achieved the ultimate revenge: victory. Her reign as the White Wolf has been a triumphant one, but with each conquest her cruelty only grows. The darkness within her has begun to spiral out of control, threatening to destroy all she’s gained. When a new danger appears, Adelina’s forced to revisit old wounds, putting not only herself at risk, but every Elite. In order to preserve her empire, Adelina and her Roses must join the Daggers on a perilous quest—though this uneasy alliance may prove to be the real danger.

*WARNING THIS IS A SPOILER REVIEW DON'T READ UNLESS YOU READ OR WANT TO BE SPOILED*

O. M. G. What did I just read! Marie Lu does it again... taking my heart in the palm of her hands and then ripping it out of my chest.

I loved this book! 5/5 stars. It was amazing. Pacing was perfect, action packed and never a dull moment. And it killed me... what more can I ask for?!

The minute I started this book I was shocked! I totally forgot how dark it was, how dark Adelina is! LOVE HER! She's my favourite character. Her and Magiano ❤️. I can't even express what they do to me. They are the sweetest. And every time Adelina says that Magiano keeps the voices and illusions/nightmares at bay 😭. And he calls her MY LOVE!!!!!!

Okay can we talk about that ending! AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT CRIED THEIR EYES OUT! I didn't cry when Enzo died. Didn't cry with Violeta died. Didn't cry when Teren died. I only cried when she made that stupid deal! SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DIE! SHE SAID SO HERSELF! SHE STILL WANTED TO EXPERIENCE LIFE, experience it with Magiano. But she thought she would do something good for once. Sacrifice herself so that her sister can live. I can never express how much I hate sacrifices. More specifically when a character sacrifices for the "greater good". If you ask me the character should be selfish and survive and also save everyone that way they don't break my heart. Is that too much to ask for 🙈. But let's get back on track here. The ending. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! It was all good up until the last like 30 pages or so. Then it all came toppling down... I actually had hope that the ending would make me happy. That there wouldn't be any complications and they would all live happily ever after...why couldn't I be right 😔. MAGANIO IS FOLLOWING ADELINAS CONSTELLATION! WHEREVER SHE GOES HE FOLLOWS!! Why does he have to be so sweet... why couldn't they live normal lives together... why couldn't they grow old together! 😭

You know when you cry for a long time and you think you have it under control? Yeah that was me just before the passage at the end of the book. I think it took me 10 min to read it (vision kept getting blurry aka sobbing like crazy). And of course your couldn't just read the passage once. Nope I had to suffer through it again to make sure I read it right 😭. HE PLAYS HIS LUTE AND AT NIGHT ADELINA COMES DOWN FROM THE SKY AND THE SAIL TOGETHER 😭😭😭 I'M CRYING AGAIN!!

OMG I just figured it out (I think). I've always wondered why The Midnight Star. The Young Elites were what the survivors of the blood fever called. The Rose Society were what Adelinas crew called. But what is The Midnight Star? ITS ADALEINA! Cause according to the passage Adelina is the brightest star that shines at Midnight! 🌟
