Goodreads Review:
My Firstlife is over, but my Everlife is only now beginning. With her last living breath, Tenley "Ten" Lockwood made her choice and picked her realm in the Everlife. Now, as the war between Troika and Myriad rages, she must face the consequences. Because Ten possesses a rare supernatural ability to absorb and share light, the Powers That Be have the highest expectations for her future—and the enemy wants her neutralized. Fighting to save her Secondlife, she must learn about her realm from the ground up while launching her first mission: convincing a select group of humans to join her side before they die. No pressure, right? But Ten's competition is Killian, the boy she can't forget—the one who gave up everything for her happiness. He has only one shot at redemption: beating Ten at a game she's never even played. As their throw-downs heat up, so do their undeniable feelings, and soon, Ten will have to make another choice. Love…or victory.
My Review:
Lifeblood was the perfect sequel to one of my favourite trilogies. Having picked up where Firstlife left off with Ten starting off her Everlife. Ten has some brutal choices to make. She is faced with being loyal to Trokia but also loving and wanting to protect Killian. With the weight of the realms on her shoulders Ten is constantly thinking if she is making the right choices. Love and betrayal is the drive in this sequel, and it's beautiful.
We delve deeper about the war between the realms and learn more about the Kings battles. I wasn't expecting the bloodshed that came with this book. I loved reading about the battles. They weren't sugar coated we got to see the war for what war really is, and it wasn't pretty. There's ton of hardship, and critical choices being made mixed with a ton of bloodshed and death.
Ten and her numbers. Some people may find the constant connection that she made between meanings and numbers to be annoying, but I am not one of those people. I love numbers so reading how Ten's mind worked was so unique and amazing. I don't know, I thought it was fascinating!
Can I just express how much I love Killian!!! He's my favourite bad boy! Killian is just so rough and sweet and just warms my heart any time I saw his name or whenever he came up on the page. His accent gets me every time and he constantly makes me swoon. There was one scene is the book (won't say for spoilers) but I think I died a little on the inside.
Overall the book comes together seamlessly, and the climax doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for an impactful adventure, I highly recommend these books! I can't wait to read the final installment in this series!
